“Somewhere over the rainbow, where bluebirds fly…”

This song has been with me since childhood. After experiencing early trauma and child abuse, I found refuge with my grandmother, who would sing it to me, a symbol of hope, safety, and the light that exists even in the darkest moments.

From a very young age, I was deeply conscious, aware of myself in a way most people never experience. I remember the awe of realising: “I am me, here, seeing through these eyes, out of everyone, I am here.” Growing up, I was highly sensitive and empathetic, feeling others’ emotions as my own, hearing whispers, having lucid dreams, and sensing energies around me. Around eight, an elder told me, “You are a healer, my dear. You have healing hands.” I would hear this affirmation repeatedly throughout my life, reinforcing a truth my soul already knew.

Even as a child, I received spiritual insights, my first being: “Everything is energy” before I even knew the concept. Yet, like many born into intense trauma, I spent much of my teens and twenties suppressing my spiritual connection, though it quietly guided me. When my grandmother passed at 28, my deeper awakening began. A blue kingfisher began visiting daily. A messenger of love, guidance, and continuity, inspiring the Light Essence logo. A visitation dream of her reassuring she was okay and a transition dream in a train station brought reassurance and understanding, connecting me to something greater.

Through this journey, I’ve learned that those born into trauma often transmute their pain, cultivating resilience, empathy, and the power to help others heal. Light Essence was born from this truth: a calm, safe space where you can reconnect to yourself, feel held, and remember your light.
